Day 3

*** WELCOME TO MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA ***

Transfer: MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO HOTEL

As you exit customs, turn right and head for the meeting point. Please look for your Swain Chauffeur in this meeting area, he will be holding a Swain sign.

The capital of Victoria and Australia's second-largest metropolis is known around the world for the Melbourne Cup horserace - but it offers much more - a city of style, of Victorian architecture, of trams, of fashion, food, theatres, art galleries, and leafy gardens.

Known as the Arts and Culture capital of Australia and also for it's restaurants, great dining-out spots include St Kilda, South Yarra, and Lygon Street in Carlton for the best Italian cuisine; Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, for its offbeat cafe culture; and Southgate where you can dine overlooking the Yarra River.

Accommodation : 3 Nights

THE GRAND HOTEL-1 BEDROOM APARTMENT

The Grand Hotel is one of Melbourne's most historic buildings and a precious reminder of a by-gone era. Every aspect of this hotel represents the grandeur and style of this period. You are centrally located in Spencer Street - a tram ride away from the city's main attractions.

Within the impressive exterior you will pleasantly discover all of the trimmings of modern luxury. The deluxe apartments offer television, radio, kitchen facilities, dining area, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities and individual air-conditioning.

Tour : COLONIAL TRAM CAR DINNER
Please call the Tramcar Restaurant on 9696 4000 upon your arrival into Melbourne to reconfirm your booking. The tram leaves from Tram Stop 125 - Normanby Road, near the corner of Clarendon Street and adjacent to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. There are no hotel pick-ups provided with tonights excursion, we suggest you take a taxi from your hotel.

Tonight you will dine in style aboard the unique Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. Enjoy fine Australian cuisine and wines as you travel around the city area aboard this specially renovated Melbourne Tramcar.

The tracks take you all over the Melbourne area past the city centre and into the more exclusive suburbs Melbourne is known for.

Day 4

We stop briefly at Maru Craft and then over the causeway on to Phillip Island Wildlife Park to meet some Koalas and friendly Kangaroos before a three course dinner at Taylor's restaurant in Cowes..

The penguins come ashore at dusk and we are there to witness them make their way among the sand dunes to their burrows (numbers vary throughout the year). We then head back to Melbourne via the South Gippsland Highway & South Eastern Freeway.

Dress warm - especially during winter (April-August), but even in summer the night may be cold and a sweater or jacket is recommended.

We lunch at Fergussons Winery and finish our tour of the valley at Domaine Chandon with a guided tour of the winery and a glass of Australian sparking wine made in the French style. A scenic route brings us back to the city and your hotel.
